Hartford Hospital, part of Hartford Healthcare, is one of the largest teaching hospitals and tertiary care centers in New England. Hartford Hospital is a 938 bed tertiary medical center with five intensive care units and many areas of specialty including robust HIV, cystic fibrosis, oncology, and solid organ transplant patient populations.
About the Program
The infectious diseases (ID) pharmacy residency at Hartford Hospital provides advanced training in ID pharmacotherapy and antimicrobial stewardship. The program allows for tailored instruction for the individual resident based on interests, past experience, and future goals.

Post PGY2 Plans: I would like to obtain my BCIDP and begin my infectious diseases pharmacy practice as an antimicrobial stewardship pharmacist at academic medical center! I want to continue to surround myself in an educational environment to dedicate myself and others to lifelong learning about infectious diseases. Additionally, I plan to precept students and residents, remain involved in research, and work on hospital policies and metrics for optimal antimicrobial usage.
What attracted you to Hartford Hospital? Institutionally, Hartford Hospital is a large academic medical center with unique patient populations for infectious diseases, including critical care, transplant, and oncology. The program itself has diverse rotations and longitudinal projects as well. Most importantly, the ID team is such a wonderful group of people! They are so kind and excited you are there to start your training as an ID pharmacist. They are eager for you to learn as much as you can, while cultivating a welcoming learning environment. I felt so comfortable with them during my interview day that I knew we were going to be a good fit.
What do you do in your free time? I spend as much time outdoors as I can! Whether it's hiking, reading, spending time on the beach, or trying new ice-cream places, I am the happiest when I am outside. On rainy days, I like to visit different museums and coffee shops. These activities have been great opportunities for me to explore New England!
What do you love most about Connecticut? Besides its proximity to Boston, New York, Rhode Island, and their accompanying beaches, Connecticut has so much to offer! Hartford and New Haven have excellent restaurants, museums, and parks. There are plenty of hiking trails by forests, lakes, and beaches to explore as well. You can also take day trips to the countless small, historical towns nestled into the country. There is something for everyone in Connecticut!
